an old collage piece from art school. we had to make numerous collages. this was a personal one. It’s gone through a flood and it has started to rot so I figured I’d scan it.

written through the course of a few work days in January. It didn’t come out exactly how I imagined but as long as it’s legible you get the point.

About this time last year I made these logo rips for Van. I’m from PA where we have Sheetz and in Jersey, Van has WaWa. When we were working on the new shirt designs I wanted to do something to unite PA and NJ a little bit. There’s always been this weird little thing that if you’re from Jersey you think Wawa is the best and if you’re from PA you’ll think Sheetz is better.

I was really happy with how these came out. I was on a logo ripping kick after I did the rock and roll business cards and I was hoping we’d make the Sheets and Wawa Logos into shirts to give good to customers from PA and NJ.

Doodle diddley

Messed around with a Newcastle label to make this. Albert likes Newcastle as do I so it was a fun little spoof.

Worked on a Newcastle logo spoof today. More pics soon.

Tonight’s doodle. Not quite the way I want it but it’s consistent enough for now. I might bring it in to Illustrator and clean it up.

Little illustration from yesterday. We were listening to BlackOut. My brother Craig really influenced some of my musical taste.

Shameless Self Promo

Lately I’ve been looking to get more design work under my belt. So I came up with a simple solution to hopefully get a creative director’s attention.

read on for more pics and info

I wanted to mail examples of my work as well as my resume to creative directors in the area. I also wanted to do it in a cheap and timely fashion.  First I made a small tri-fold brochure.  One side has three examples of my work, the other side has a summary of my resume.  I then added my business card in there for good measure.

I knew I wanted it to be something small so I could mail it easily. So I made them about the size of a post it note. I then needed a little case or package for the whole thing. I went with some left over card stock. I wasn’t psyched on the color though so I took fly swatters and milk crates to spray paint flat black designs onto the cardstock. It gives the case a real hand made feel and a unique look.

All I have to do now is put them in envelopes with a little note and mail these bad boys out!
